So I came across this place during my lunch hour and decided to give it a try. I really like Japanese food so I went for the sashimi platter and pork udon.
I've never been a big fan of karaoke bars. Pretty much any I've been to have been dive bars with a karaoke machine up front or just a dirty place overall to be at. When I came into W&R, it seemed just like a normal looking restaurant/bar which was pleasant. Plenty of seats and they do takeout too. So far it looked okay so I was eager to try the food.
When I saw it served Japanese/Chinese food, I imagined it was the same as many other restaurants in the area that serve "Asian" food. After seeing the waitresses carrying around some dishes, the food looked promising so, again, pretty eager to try the food.
I went with the pork udon and the sashimi platter. Sushi is sort expensive around here so the total cost of the meal, + tip, was about $45...just for me. Sadly this is normal for me since I like to eat a lot but just getting the noodles would've been around $15 mark with tip and drink.
There are quite a few ramen/udon places near here and Kofuku is probably my favorite. That said, the udon at Wok and Roll is very good. There's not a whole lot of noodles in it but the pork, broth and dish cakes are all dumped into the bowl so it's quite a hearty bowl of udon. The broth was especially good as it was a bit salty (I got the miso broth) but quite tasty. The noodles and pork complimented the bowl quite nicely making this one of the better udon in the area.
The sashimi was very good. 15 pieces for $20 seems about right to me in terms of price. The pieces are quite large so you're not being charged full price sashimi for half the amount like other places do. It goes without saying that ANY place that serves sushi/sashimi, the fish should be fresh. However the sashimi here tasted almost as if they just pulled the fish out of the ocean and served it up. The salmon was buttery soft as was the yellowtail. The tuna and mackerel were a bit firmer but equally tasty. Cant recall what the fifth fish was but it was good too. The sashimi platter is a grand choice IMO. In terms of best bang for your buck, I think this platter is the best one I've come across so far in the Chinatown area.
Great place overall. The food is delicious and the staff were friendly and constantly (in a good way) checking up on me making sure the food was good and if I needed a refill or something. I don't think I'll ever come here for the karaoke but will definitely be back for the food. -

I ordered on grub hub because estimated delivery was fast. It did arrive quickly and satisfied our craving!
-The salmon rolls were really good. Fresh fish and avocado.
-The won tons barely contained anything
-while on the contrary the egg rolls were packed with goodness!
-I also got the chicken fried rice which was a huge portion.
Prices were reasonable.
Other yelpers had bad service inside so maybe delivery is the way to go with this place. -

Eh. Ordered takeout and it was alright. Cannot eat the Hawai'i roll (pictured) which would be the first sushi roll I've ever not eaten after ordering. The topping is so thick and awful It ruined the whole thing. The California roll and shrimp tempura rolls were okay. I also ordered something called the Market Roll and didn't get it lol. Won't be reordering

Rented a small room for a birthday karaoke party. Wings and fries were good. We also ordered a pitcher of margaritas and Mai Tais. It was a good idea to offer drinks in a pitcher rather than separate drinks for everyone yet they we sooooooooo watered down, like I didn't taste any alcohol at all. Also the karaoke system was so hard to figure out. It was all in Mandarin even when we set the language setting to English. The app also all in Mandarin. It was all just so complicated. The light system was only in 2 settings, disco or all lights on. Yeah me of the waiter guys/bartender/ whatever he was, he was SO RUDE. We just asked him to teach us the basics of the karaoke system and acted like he was annoyed with us! They barely had any songs we wanted. I definitely will not be back.

This place easily has the best Chinese food I've ever had. Not sure why this place has 2.5 stars. I was kinda safe and ordered the chicken lo-mein and my wife ordered shrimp chow-mein. We both really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Service was great and prices were comparable to other restaurants here in DC
